That’s right, now that I have some ideas on how these sessions were being run, it was time to hop out of the role of “Random Observer #6” and get into the game. Last weekend, I had the privilege of playing the part of “Participating Actor #1” in the Acting Workout with director and VO extraordinaire Brook Chalmers. It was great to have the opportunity to play around with someone as brilliant as Brook and get the direction and feedback he was able to provide. I got some great tips directly from him during my round on what I can do to keep pushing forward and got some great insights as the rest of the other actors got their chance to get into the sandbox. I know I need to work more on expanding my vocal range, and Brook noted that as well, so it’s definitely something to work on.
My next scheduled opportunity will be at the end of this month, where I won’t have to be an observer but will be one of the participating actors in the Workout with everyone’s favorite Bestie for Resties, the fabulous Kristin McGuire! Can’t wait for that to happen on the 25th. Soooo excited!
Until then, it’s working on that range, trolling for some casting calls, making sure my DAW is set up just right, and breaking in the new mic that is currently sitting at home in an Amazon package, waiting to be installed… the Neumann TLM 102! (Though probably not in that order. I know the mic will be first there!)
February is shaping up to be a great month!
